Port Dredging — Sediment Dewatering

The Challenges

Maintenance dredging at the Port of Adelaide produced sediment that had to be dewatered on a tight wharf footprint and managed within EPA marine-discharge requirements.

Our Approach

Feasibility and containment-cell layout, extensive flocculant selection and dosing guidance to satisfy the EPA, and on-site inspections through filling.

Results

Two stages — about 10,000 m³ of in-situ dredged material — were dewatered into stackable cake of broadly similar volume within the lined, bunded cell.
