Shaft Boring — Drill-Mud Dewatering

The Challenges

A surface raise-bore cut a 6.5 m vent shaft about 350 m down to a longwall panel, returning large volumes of mud- and rock-laden water to surface. Water was scarce and had to be recycled.

Our Approach

Extracted slurry was polymer-dosed and dewatered in tubes on a lined pad beside the rig; clarified water was collected in a sump and returned to the bore.
